Connecting with Calm

  • MOKEDO 1762 Airport Way South Seattle, WA, 98134 United States (map)

These are difficult times.
For many of us, political conversations with friends and family have become too painful, and we are looking for strategies to manage our stress in this current political climate.
There is a way for us to connect authentically, despite our differences, while staying grounded. We can make our relationships with family and friends a little kinder. We can talk courageously about our hopes and fears, and perhaps learn something new about each other in the process.
In this workshop, Compassionate Listening facilitators Andrea Cohen and Gil Bar-Sela will offer practical tools to engage productively and empathetically in these tense situations. You will learn to:
- Speak from the heart without it turning into another futile fight.
- Cultivate skills needed to transform the space of conversation into a healing opportunity.
- Practice self-care while staying engaged.

* Our intention for this event is to create space for a safe conversation, very different from a debate or an argument. If you have any thoughts, concerns or reservations please feel free to contact us with any questions. We'd be happy to talk privately to people who might be nervous about attending. Safety is our first priority!

* In this safe container, we would also like encourage diversity of opinions. If you know of someone who holds a different perspective (maybe someone you would like to practice with) that could also benefit from this healing experience, we encourage you to bring them. Please contact us for a special two-for-one rate.
